Biontech’s Bacillus subtilis Y1336 wins China’s Plant Protection Product Contribution Award
AgroPages’ Chinese edition reported that the 2016 Plant Protection Product Contribution and Promotion Awards were jointly organized by the Plant Protection Product Promotion Committee of the China Society of Plant Protection and Agricultural Inputs Herald, published by China Chemical Industry News. Following strict screening—including company qualification checks, expert review, public notification and market research—104 products from nearly 90 companies and 60 outstanding promotion professionals received recognition. The awarded products included 50 fungicides (including nematicides), 18 insecticides, 19 herbicides, five plant growth regulators, two resistance inducers, one pesticide-fertilizer product and nine agricultural machinery products. Biontech’s Bacillus subtilis Y1336 biological pesticide received the 2016 China Plant Protection Product Contribution Award.
The awards were established to promote high-quality products and recognize outstanding individuals. There are two categories: product contribution and product promotion. Four editions had been successfully held since 2013. Interest remained strong, with participating company numbers reaching a new high in the year of this report.
Selection emphasized actual field application and promotion results, and individuals’ grassroots service. Eligible products included efficient, low-toxicity, low-risk pesticides and application equipment, as well as biological and physical technologies used to control plant diseases and pests. The individual awards recognized extension professionals working on agriculture’s front line. The aim was to publicize excellent products and establish industry benchmarks. The report described this as the first five-year period of the awards and noted their growing credibility among the public and the pesticide industry.

Our Y1336 product has already received several medals in Taiwan. Recognition in mainland China is another source of pride for our company.
Biontech registered its Bacillus subtilis Y1336 product, Tianzanhao, in mainland China in 2006, and it has served farmers for ten years. The product is sold there under the name Tianzanhao. This award demonstrates its popularity among farmers, and we are deeply grateful for their support and recognition.
I would also like to introduce another of our flagship products in mainland China: Jinxiu, a liquid Bacillus subtilis Y1336 product. We have obtained its registration and begun commercial promotion. We are confident in Jinxiu, which offers the same performance and benefits as Tianzanhao.

Bacillus subtilis Y1336 has been registered and sold in many countries. Over the years, we have expanded from Taiwan to markets worldwide and witnessed the rapid growth of biological pesticides and major changes in traditional plant protection. In addition to private companies’ investment of resources, we are grateful for the strong support of local and central government agencies. I believe biological products have a bright future and great market potential, with substantial benefits for farmers, the environment, industry and consumers.
