A daughter's tears
As a little girl, our founder's eldest daughter would run to hug him whenever he came home. One day in third grade, he found her crying alone in her room. Her teacher had asked the class to introduce their parents' work, and she felt ashamed that her father was in the pesticide business.
Her heartbreak made her father reconsider his work: could crops be protected in a safer way, one the next generation could be proud of?

Our founder committed himself to safe, environmentally friendly biopesticides and microbial technology. He hoped his children would one day proudly say that his work protected plants and the environment while helping increase food production.

Biontech is born
After years of learning, research and preparation, Biontech was founded on February 22, 2002. That promise became a long-term commitment to strain preservation, functional screening, product development and commercial production.

Today, Biontech develops microbial applications for agriculture, horticulture, livestock, aquaculture and the environment with partners across countries. As technology and markets change, one question guides each step: does this make growth safer and the future better for the next generation?
